Chapter three: the roots

Let’s talk about the environment

You are invited to join us in this important conversation about the impact of humans on the environment.

Hear from Lilly Platt, International Environmental Champion and co-creator of the World Changers event series. At 12, she has established herself as one of the world’s largest environmentalists. One of her most recent achievements is being recognized as the first Global Youth Ambassador for Earth.Org.

Come also to meet Alizay Bilal, and get inspired by this 12-year-old activist. She is the founder of a local project called Kids Against Climate Change, which is a program dedicated to raising awareness about climate change and its drastic effects and encouraging people to take action.

This event is the 4th in a series of inspiring events. Our aim is to have important conversations about the issues affecting the world today. You will leave inspired to take action.

Hosted by Laura Peña, Sammie Vance, Sara Surani and Lilly Platt.

This event is open and free to girls 12+ from all over the world. We also welcome women who would like to support them. This event will be in English and Spanish.

Lilly Platt

Lilly Platt is an international environmental champion. At 12, Lilly has achieved more than the average adult and has established herself as one of the world’s largest environmentalists. Lilly started ‘Lilly’s Plastic Pickup’ at the age of 7 after seeing the astonishing amount of plastic on a walk with her grandfather one day. After looking up the dangers of plastic, Lilly decided that it was time to take action herself. One of Lilly’s goals is to inform the world, including global politicians and policymakers, about the harmful effects of climate change and plastic pollution.

She has received several awards for her environmental work, including a “Lijntje” award for Outstanding Achievement and an International Eco Hero Award, and she is to be presented with the Children’s Rights Award.

Lilly also takes part in school strikes, starting in September 2019 alongside her friend, Greta Thunberg.

Lilly is a host and co-creators of our World Changers events and we can’t wait for you to see her in action!

Alizay Bilal

Alizay’s activism journey started in January last year, and since then she has done so much for her community. She is the founder of a local project called Kids Against Climate Change, which is a program dedicated to raising awareness about climate change and its drastic effects, and encouraging people to take action. It's mainly for young people like herself, because she strongly believe that kids can make a difference. Other than climate activism, she have started projects such as "Do it like a Girl", "My mind matters", and "Houses for Homeless". Currently, she is working on a project where she meets middle-school immigrants through zoom who have come to the United States with their families, and help them overcome the difficult challenges of America's middle school system while making sure they stay true to who they really are. She loves volunteering and making people laugh. When she is not doing activism duties, she loves to spend time with her family and friends, and play outside.

She is a Galaxy Girl and the winner of one of World Changer’s mini grants and we are so proud of her and the work she does to make the world a better place.
